Service Area & 911 Technology

LCEC is the primary 911 answering point (PSAP) for most of Labette County and handles all wireless (cell phone) 911 calls placed within the county, including many made within the City of Parsons.

Our center utilizes modern 911 technologies to enhance caller location accuracy and improve response times, including:

• Phase II Wireless Location Services, which provide more precise caller location data
• Geo-coded routing, ensuring 911 calls are delivered to the correct public safety answering point based on location
• Text-to-911 capabilities, allowing citizens to send emergency text messages when calling is not possible
• Participation in the Kansas 911 Hosted Solution, providing advanced, reliable, and statewide-supported infrastructure

While these technologies greatly improve our ability to locate callers, providing an accurate location when calling or texting 911 remains critical.
