The health department's sharp disposal program is designed as a community service to assist residents with a safe and environmentally sound method to dispose of used sharps (needles, syringes, and lancets).

If you have a medical condition which requires the use of injected medication, please make the extra effort to participate in this free program.  This program is for private Labette County citizens who give themselves or family members shots.  Health care professionals and businesses are regulated and may not participate.

How the program works:

*  Request a sharps container from the health dept

*  Place used needles, syringes, lancets into the sharps container (NO TRASH)

*  When the container is filled, permanently close the top

*  Return the clean and securely closed container to the health dept.  Only properly packaged sharps containers will be accepted.  The health dept has the right to    refuse any improperly packaged container in order to protect the safety of their employees.

For more information on the program contact the health department.
