Before and while attending law school, Doug was a police officer in Southern California for 13 years and rose to the rank of Captain, and was involved in budgeting and personnel issues. As an attorney, he practiced in several areas of law and has represented police officers involved in shootings and use of force incidents.
He is primarily concerned with keeping taxes at a minimum while ensuring that core services remain efficient and professionally run.
Doug and his wife, Anne, have raised four sons and continue to be involved in all their lives. Their two younger sons, twins, graduated from Labette County High School and attended Bethany and Sterling colleges in Kansas.
