Sheriff's Office

Sheriff PhotoWelcome to the Labette County Sheriff's Office homepage. Having been appointed to the position of the 37th Labette County Sheriff  in 1994 and re-elected in 1996, 2000, 2004 and 2008, I have continually worked to provide a dedicated staff and professional department for the citizens of Labette County.

The department is operated 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, and has several departments.  The patrol officers and investigative officers of the department are responsible for providing visible proactive patrols and investigative duties of the county on a daily basis. Deputies are responsible for enforcing state statute violations along with enforcing the city code violations in the cities of Edna and Mound Valley.  During the year of 2008, officers investigated 309 motor vehicle accidents and filed 418 offense reports.

The Labette County Jail can house up to 83 inmates on any given day and time, including many inmates housed on contract from Sedgwick and Johnson County jurisdictions, along with other counties within the state. The funds from housing the out-of-county inmates have allowed the Sheriff's Office to add additional staffing and purchase vehicles and equipment, at no additional cost to the Labette County Taxpayers.  For the year of 2008, the facility turned into the county general fund a total of $108,447.32, after expenditures, generated from the out-of-county housing.

The men and women of the department are well-trained professionals who take great pride in the duties and services they perform for the citizens of Labette County, Kansas.  Please review our site and return often.
